The 2017 Main Line Real Estate Market
"So, how's the market?" That is the question I hear almost everyday from friends, neighbors and clients. So let's take a look!
In a recent REALTORS® Confidence Index Survey, the National Association of REALTORS® recently asked members, “What are your expectations for the housing market over the next six months compared to the current state of the market in the neighborhood(s) or area(s) where you make most of your sales?” The answer: REALTORS® across the country are generally optimistic about the existing homes market in the next six months. In Pennsylvania, REALTORS® ranked their overall confidence as "very strong" - with a confidence index for single family homes approaching a 10-year high of 80 points - far above the 40-point index range seen in 2010 and 2011, at market lows.
Here on the Main Line, I agree with my colleagues' sentiment of confidence as I continue to see indicators of a strong local market. As we enter the traditional spring real estate market, the greater Main Line area still has a relatively low inventory of homes, creating strong market demand from buyers seeking to purchase.
Larry Flick, the Chairman and CEO of BHHS Fox & Roach Realtors, calls this a "Goldilocks Moment" for our local real estate market - not “too hot” or “too cold.” We’re at a moment now where both our economy and local real estate markets have created a “just right” environment to buy a house.
