Kevin C. Leahy has over 25 years of professional experience in wealth management, financial planning, and taxation.  Kevin works with individuals with complex financial affairs including business owners, corporate executives, and medical professionals.

He founded Connecticut Wealth Management (CTWM) in 2010 and has been instrumental in developing the CTWM team and culture.  As CEO of the Firm, Kevin is responsible for managing the firm according to its Mission Statement and Guiding Principles.

He is frequently asked to present to audiences including the Financial Planning Association of Connecticut, the University of Connecticut, the Estate and Business Planning Council of Hartford, and LPL Financial.  Kevin‘s recognized expertise has resulted in numerous guest appearances on NBC Connecticut and WFSB.

Education

Kevin graduated from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and earned a Master’s in Taxation with a concentration in Financial Planning from Northeastern University. Kevin is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) licensee.

Affiliation & Community Involvement

Kevin C. Leahy is a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA) and the Financial Planning Association (FPA).  He is also a Member of the Board of Trustees for the University of Bridgeport, the Board of Trustees of Mercy High School, and the Investment Committee of the Middlesex YMCA. 

Previously he has served as the board member of the Rushford Center, on various committees with the Estate and Business Planning Council of Hartford, and on the Professional Advisory Committee of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

He is a devoted supporter of the Bridge Family Center, The Connecticut Forum, Hartford Youth Scholars, Farmington Land Trust, and Mercy High School.

Denis M. Horrigan has more than 25 years of professional experience in the areas of financial planning and wealth management. Denis works with executives, business owners, medical professionals, families, and non-profit organizations. 

Denis is a partner and one of the founders of Connecticut Wealth Management (CTWM).  In addition to his role as Advisor, Denis works with the client service team ensuring that all clients receive consistent, meaningful, and quality service.  Denis also serves on the firm’s Investment Committee.

Denis is often asked to present to various audiences including the University of Connecticut, Planned Giving Group of Connecticut, and the Connecticut Public Pension Forum.  Denis’s recognized expertise has resulted in numerous guest appearances on NBC Connecticut, Fox61, and WTNH News 8.  He has been quoted in articles in both local and national publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Hartford Business Journal, Investment News, and thestreet.com.

Denis graduated from Siena College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) licensee and a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA).

Denis M. Horrigan serves on the board of directors for Hartford Youth Scholars, Capital Workforce Partners, and the Financial Planning Association of Connecticut. He is a member of the Simsbury-Granby Rotary Club and is involved in volunteering to support the McLean Hospice Care in Simsbury. Denis is a past board member of the Estate & Business Planning Council of Hartford, the Connecticut Forum, Simsbury’s A Better Chance organization, and was a member of the Investment Committee for the Harriett Beecher Stowe Center.  In addition, he has volunteered on numerous Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity builds.

Denis has been recognized as a Five Star Wealth Manager* by Crescendo Business Services (2010-2024); the elite list appearing annually in Connecticut Magazine.  He has been recognized as a top advisor by Medical Economics (2011-2017) and was selected as one of the “40 under Forty” by the Hartford Business Journal (2007).

Jarrett graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College with a degree in economics. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) licensee. Jarrett has been a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association since 2007.

Outside of CTWM, Jarrett is the treasurer for the In-Home Addiction Treatment Institute, a non-profit dedicated to researching and advancing innovative methods of addiction treatment.  He is on the Board of Directors for the West Hartford Library Foundation and is a committee member for the Greater Hartford chapter of the Amherst College Alumni Network.  Prior volunteer experience includes serving on the Oak Hill Foundation’s Board of Directors, acting as the chairman of the Seminar Committee for the Estate and Business Planning Council of Hartford, and running the Endowment Committee for the Hartford Tennis Club in West Hartford. At Amherst, Jarrett was an outfielder on the baseball team, and for several years volunteered his time helping to coach the varsity baseball team at Hall High School in West Hartford.

A Simsbury native, Jarrett resides in West Hartford with his wife Samira, daughter Ella, and son Jack.

Michael graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bryant University with a degree in business administration. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), a credential granted by the AICPA exclusively to CPAs who have a combination of extensive tax expertise and comprehensive knowledge of financial planning.

Michael A. Tedone is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), as well as a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA). He has served as president of the Hartford Estate and Business Planning Council and was a chairman of the Hartford Foundation of Public Giving’s Professional Advisory Board.

Kathy oversees CTWM’s Charitable Outreach Committee and is a member of the CTWM Investment Committee.

Prior to joining CTWM Kathy worked for Filomeno Wealth Management, Deloitte, and Cigna.  While at Cigna she advanced through numerous leadership roles and graduated from their respected Financial Development Program (FDP).  

Kathy has appeared on NBC Connecticut and has been quoted by CNN Money and Financial Advisor Magazine.

Kathy graduated from the University of Hartford with a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Taxation and earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Fairfield University. Jennifer D. Barry, CFP® is a Managing Advisor at Connecticut Wealth Management, LLC (CTWM). For more than 25 years, Jennifer has been creating comprehensive financial plans and investment strategies to support her clients’ objectives. Jennifer works as a team with her clients’ multi-generational family members and professionals to ensure all aspects of clients’ plans are considered.

Jennifer is a member of the CTWM Investment Committee and Charitable Outreach Committee.

Prior to joining CTWM, Jennifer was a Financial Planner and Investment Advisor Representative with Capital Strategies in Bloomfield, Connecticut. She was also President of a local investment firm, and earlier in her career, worked as an Information Director for Corporate Finance at Travelers.

Education

Jennifer graduated from Hartford State Technical College and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and has a Certification in Long Term Care (CLTC).

Affiliations & Community Involvement

Jennifer is on the Advisory Board of the Franciscan Home Care & Hospice Life Center, a member of the Estate & Business Planning Council of Hartford, and a member of the Connecticut Financial Planning Association (FPA). She was also the coordinator of the FPA’s High School Financial Planning Program and continues to be an advocate for early education on financial management.

Megan Trask, CFP®

Megan Trask, CFP® joined the Connecticut Wealth Management (CTWM) team in 2016. Megan has been a major contributor to the development of the firm’s unique investment approach that helps clients align their financial goals with their portfolios. She builds meaningful and lasting relationships with her clients, which includes business owners and executives, and currently manages the largest portion of the firm’s client assets.

As Director of CTWM’s Investment Committee, Megan is responsible for the development and implementation of the firm’s target investment strategy. She oversees the firm’s retirement plans and participant education programs and is passionate about philanthropic planning, financial literacy with second-generation clients, and socially responsible investing. 

Prior to joining the firm, Megan was a Senior Wealth Planner at Reynders, McVeigh Capital Management, LLC in Boston. She was responsible for communicating the firm’s proprietary research on public equities, private placement investments, as well as socially responsible strategies to individual clients. Megan also worked in the Investor Services Department of Brown Brothers Harriman with institutional clients.

Megan’s recognized expertise has resulted in numerous guest appearances on NBC Connecticut. In addition, she often contributes to financial articles in industry publications.

Megan graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance with a minor in economics. She has a certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University. Megan is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) practitioner. 

Affiliations and Community Involvement

Megan sits on the Investment Committee for the Village for Families & Children where she helps to develop investment policy and due diligence for the organization’s endowment. Megan is the advisor to the Vice President of Academic Excellence of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She assists in developing the 100-person chapter’s scholastics expectations and requirements and visits quarterly to ensure adherence. Megan is a mentor and delivery angel for Healing Meals. She is also actively involved in CTWM’s charitable efforts.

Tony DiSorbo has more than 30 years of professional experience in the areas of financial planning and wealth management. Tony joined Connecticut Wealth Management, LLC (CTWM) in 2020 and works with business owners, executives, and individuals and families with complex financial needs.  His focus is on the financial planning process and on investment management and provides fiduciary advice to all his clients.  He is a member of the CTWM Investment Committee. 

Prior to joining CTWM, Tony was the managing partner at New England Capital Planners, Inc.  He has been a frequent speaker at colleges and universities throughout Connecticut about career development. In addition, he has taught adult education courses about investments, insurance vehicles, and estate planning.  Tony has been a guest host on WTIC AM News Talk Radio discussing investing, financial planning, and tax topics, and has authored an article for Investment Advisor Magazine on practice management and client services.

Education

Tony graduated from the University of Connecticut and has a Bachelor of Science in Finance.  He is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®).

Tony is a past board member of the Connecticut Financial Planning Association (FPA). In addition, he has served on the board of his town’s youth sports program and has implemented career mentoring programs for his town’s high school Future Business Leaders of America program and STEM department.

Additionally, John is the Assistant Director of the CTWM Investment Committee and is responsible for implementing firmwide portfolio strategies.  

Prior to joining CTWM, John was a Financial Advisor at Pinnacle Investment Management in Simsbury, CT.  

Education

John graduated with a Masters’ of Science in Financial Services from American College and earned his undergraduate degree from Fordham University.  He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) practitioner.

Emily R. Wood brings over a decade of experience in the financial planning industry to Connecticut Wealth Management (CTWM). Emily leads the CTWM team in the development and implementation of innovative strategies that turn client aspirations into financial realities. She works with clients who have the most complex financial planning needs, including executives, real estate investors, and business owners.

Having worked with multiple law firms in the surrounding Connecticut area, Emily understands the complex benefits structure and work demands of the legal industry. She is highly skilled at quickly identifying the wants and needs of attorneys and developing a financial plan to be executed.

In her role as Chief Client Officer, Emily oversees all other existing and emerging services, as well as ensuring that all clients have an exceptional and genuine experience with the firm during every aspect of their financial lives. She is passionate about working with the entire CTWM team to create a plan that achieves and elevates every client’s financial success.

Education

Emily earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Gender & Women’s Studies and International Studies from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA, and is passionate about women’s rights and equality.

Emily is also currently working to complete her Master of Science in Accounting and Taxation at the University of Hartford. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) practitioner.

Charles (Chip) Olson joins the Connecticut Wealth Management (CTWM) team with more than 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. Chip is passionate about this business and has extensive experience and knowledge in financial planning, investment management, and trusts & estates. Chip works with wealthy families, entrepreneurs, widows, business owners and nonprofit organizations to develop customized solutions to meet their goals and objectives. For Chip, his work is all about building deep and genuine relationships. He prides himself on carefully listening to his clients, helping them to attain their dreams and preserve their wealth through the generations. Chip approaches each relationship with a mindset of, “How would I want my family treated?”

Previously, Chip was a Senior Wealth Advisor at Wilmington Trust, a subsidiary of M&T Bank, where he focused on business development and wealth preservation strategies. Prior to this, he was director of business development for Webster Bank’s wealth management division and was president and CEO of Phoenix National Trust Company. Chip has also held executive positions with other major institutions, such as Cigna and U.S. Trust Company.

Chip holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in finance from the NYU Stern School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in economics and sociology from Hobart College. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) licensee.

Chip has been recognized as a Five Star Wealth Manager* by Crescendo Business Services (2024); the elite list appearing annually in Connecticut Magazine.

Chip is active in the surrounding community, and currently serves on the Investment Committee for the United Way of the Capital Region and is former chair of the Connecticut Estate & Business Planning Council. Chip is very passionate about raising awareness and fundraising for a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D). He is a former board member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), an organization he attributes to helping him and his family understand the disease.

Chip loves to fish and recently became a U.S. Coast Guard Approved Charter Captain. He is an outdoor enthusiast who loves to ski, hike, bike, and garden. Chip currently resides in Simsbury with his wife and college sweetheart, Nancy. The two enjoy going for long walks and spending time with their two grown sons, Charlie and Hunter.

Dan Ballou is a Managing Advisor at Connecticut Wealth Management (CTWM). In his role, he leads a small advisory team in providing exceptional client service. Dan primarily focuses on developing comprehensive financial plans and investment strategies for multifaceted clients, including business owners, executives, and high-net-worth individuals approaching retirement. His passion for the industry is in helping people to better understand how their financial wellness impacts their life’s dreams and how a well-laid-out plan can help them achieve their goals, whether that’s retiring early, supporting charitable organizations, or ensuring a smooth transition of wealth to the next generation.

Dan also is an active member of CTWM’s Investment Committee, where he collaborates with a team of advisors on researching and selecting investment vehicles and strategies that best align with the firm’s approach and the client’s best interests. He also serves on the firm’s Charitable Outreach Committee.

Originally entering the financial industry through marketing, Dan transitioned into wealth management as a Senior Wealth Management Specialist at Andover, Massachusetts-based Putnam Retail Management. Prior to his role at Putnam, he served as Regional Marketing Director and Senior Regional Marketing Associate, all while regularly earning top marks in peer evaluations for his diverse range of talent and experience.

Dan Ballou graduated from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) licensee.

Michael D. Fernandes is a Managing Advisor at Connecticut Wealth Management (CTWM).  He enjoys creating long-lasting relationships with clients and having a deep understanding of what is truly important to them. Mike draws from his prior experiences to give clients a greater understanding of how their financial planning and investment portfolios work in conjunction over time. 

Prior to joining CTWM, Mike started his career working with New York Life Insurance company as a Financial Services Professional. Mike, then joined Fidelity Investments’ flagship office in Boston’s Financial District.  While at Fidelity, he worked with high-net-worth clients to formulate retirement plans and investment strategies to help them achieve their financial goals.

Education & Certifications

Mike graduated Cum Laude from Regis College with a major in Business Management, and a minor in Communications. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™(CFP®) practitioner. 

While at Regis College, Mike, was an inaugural member of their men’s basketball team when the university transitioned from all-women to the coed in 2007. He played for four years and in 2011 was awarded the university’s “Outstanding Male Senior Scholar-Athlete”. Mike continued his passion for basketball after graduating by playing in several men’s leagues in the Boston area, as well as coaching youth travel teams in Wellesley, MA.

Labib Fasihuddin joined Connecticut Wealth Management (CTWM) in 2017. He focuses on delivering exceptional client service through the development of financial plans and portfolio strategies for clients. Labib is a member of the CTWM Investment Committee where he provides research and leads firm-wide block trades.

Education & Certifications

Labib Fasihuddin graduated from The University of Connecticut School of Business in Storrs with a bachelor’s degree in Finance. At UConn, he sang and served as president for the Conn-Men, an all-male A Cappella group. Labib is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) licensee.

Josh Sweeney joined the Connecticut Wealth Management team in 2023. As Director of Investments, Josh is responsible for directing all aspects of Connecticut Wealth Management’s investment programs to help clients protect, preserve, and grow their wealth. He also helps to foster investment knowledge among the team assisting them to deliver proactive, competent, and practical advice.

As a member of CTWM’s Investment Committee, Josh collaborates with his team to provide innovative and tailored investment solutions for clients. He also works closely with our dedicated Fidelity team to collect industry research and data to aid in steering the firm’s investment decisions.

Josh’s experience has included investment management roles at firms affiliated with Ameriprise Financial and Commonwealth Financial. He also spent seven years as a product specialist with Water Island Capital, an alternative investments manager based out of New York. Most recently, he was an account executive at CharterUP, a technology startup based out of Atlanta, GA. 

Education

Josh graduated with a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Florida, and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Siena College. Josh is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Charterholder.

Will graduated Cum Laude from Providence College with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accountancy. While at Providence College, he was a member of the Finance Society, and Accounting Association and participated in the 2018 Michael Smith Ethics Case Competition. Will is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) licensee.
